New products from Sage, Redington, and RIO

Tuesday, our friend and area rep Ben Hunting stopped by The Northern Angler to show off some of the new products coming out soon from Sage, Redington, and RIO.

We started looking at some of the great new patterns RIO is kicking out which included some fantastic new popper designs (yes you can rethink the popper), a few new saltwater flies, and a fleet of new jig flies. RIO might be new to the fly game but they've been smart to rely on providing classic patterns we all know and use and expanding into the emerging trends such as Euro Nymphing.

Speaking of Euro Nymphing, Sage, Redington, and RIO are all launching new products targeting tight liners. The new Sage Sense is a beautiful, lightweight and stealthy mid-price rod that we're excited to have on the rack.

The new TILT from Redington is a fully machined nymphing-specific reel featuring three removable one-ounce weights that will allow you to perfectly dial in your rod balance.

The new Technical Euro Nymph line and shorty from RIO might be the coolest thing we saw all day. If you've ever spent a day with a long rod frustrated with the knots in your system, you know the frustration that inspired this product. RIO has incorporated a hi-viz mono core that extends from both the line and shorty that can be used as your sighter. That means you can go from line to sighter to tippet ring with only one knot! Even better, the line coating on each of these products is deigned to be removed so you can expose more core/sighter material throughout the life of this product.

On the other end of the spectrum is the new Predator line from RIO. This will be an all-encompassing big fly/big fish line that will be replacing several more specific lines from years past. It will be available in the Elite series that features the all new ConnectCore & Slick Cast coating that we've enjoyed on our dry fly lines for a year now. A short 34ft head that's overweighted to turn just about anything over and four different density options will make this a staple for years to come.

Last but certainly not least, we couldn't believe the new Field Kits from Redington. We've cast a ton of pre-packaged outfits over the years at the shop and they've nearly all had one major issue: they could all use a better fly line. We've even gone so far to make our own outfits to fit what we think customers need (see here). Finally however the Field Kits feature RIO Gold, which if you're not aware is pretty much the gold standard in our shop and throughout the country. These kits are available in Trout (9ft 5wt), Bass (9ft 7wt), and a few other great options including saltwater.

Look for all these awesome new products as they become available in the shop and let us know if there's something specific we can order for you!
