Kevin Feenstra's Winter Code Breaker

Season Three, Round Two of Live Fly Tying featured our friend Kevin Feenstra who surprised us by sharing five great patterns that should be in your box. His base code breaker has been around for a few years but he has found this color scheme to be especially effective in the winter months.

 

MATERIALS LIST

• Shank: 55mm (up eye) or Senyo's Steelhead Shanks
• Loop: 60-80lb braid or Senyo's Intruder Wire
• Tail Flash: Wide Opal Flash or Mirage Fringe
• Tail: Extra Select Craft Fur (dark olive)
• Body: Olive Ice Dub, Krakken Dubbing, or Mohair
• Rear Wing: UV Blue Ripple Ice Fiber or Krystal Flash (UV Grey)
• Eyes: 6mm bead chain (silver or chartreuse)
• Hackle: Mallard Flank (light blue)
• Front Dubbing: Ice Dub (pheasant tail)
• Flash: Flashabou (ice blue)
