Fishing Report 10/25/19
Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in for our weekly fishing report. Our guides are running trips every day down on the Manistee chasing Steelhead. If you've ever thought about taking a trip or learning more about steelhead fishing, get in touch with us. Fair warning, our guides do book months in advance for steelhead so if you're thinking about spring you're going to need get your trip booked soon.
Fishing has picked back up after some high pressure and bright sunshine last weekend. The egg bite is still heavy down below the gravel sections of our local rivers where remaining Salmon are working hard to finish up their business. Some anglers have had success swinging streamers for aggressive fish away from the gravel.
The Boardman Weir was pulled last week so fish now have the run of the river downtown. Remember that no fish will be able to pass above the Union Street dam as the fish ladder is shut down. Please use caution fishing in downtown TC as many of our decks and boardwalks are under water due to high lake levels. It's mostly still a mixed bag in town here but dedicated anglers have been able to find steelhead.
It would be a great time to be on the local trout streams if you're interested in getting away from the crowds. This is the time to be out throwing streamers for hungry pre-spawn trout. Match the water conditions with your flies, some of our rivers are still running low and clear.
