SESSION TWO
Start the New Year off the right way: fishing unpressured waters in Chilean Patagonia. The high-season for trout fishing here, you won't want to miss it.
Trout season in Chilean Patagonia swings into high gear by the New Year, and continues until leaves turn crimson and drop with the arrival of winter, in late April. The summers of Patagonia are abbreviated, much like those of Montana and Wyoming. Warm days often begin with cools mornings and can be punctuated by sudden thunderstorms. But for the most part, the best time to visit this fantastic part of the world is from mid-December through early April.
FISHING
The diverse fishing opportunies here are amazing. Each day is different so anglers can experience everything this region has to offer. Expect to wade braided river sections, float larger rivers and even spend a day at the lake. Dry flies, nymphs, and streamers all work here for resident rainbow and brown trout.
FOOD & DRINK
The food here will surprise you. Each day starts with a light breakfast that includes coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and more. Lunches on the river are a treat as you'll enjoy a riverside hot meal accompanied by local wine seated at a table in the shade. Dinners are a cultural culinary experience that typically include an appetizer, main course, and dessert.
LODGING
El Saltamontes consists of four independent buildings, all constructed of local river-worn stone and rough hewn logs. There are three duplex guest cabins, that each feature a common room in between, are all within a short walk from the main Lodge and have river views. All six bedrooms have been recently re-modeled, and include en-suite bathrooms.
