Hotshot Fry - Fly Tying Tutorial
Brian's Hotshot Fry is a staple for chasing spring steelhead. It's a quick and easy guide fly that catches tons of fish. Salmon fry are the juvenile stage of salmon that emerge from gravel nests, or redds, after hatching in spring months. They are an important food source for great lakes steelhead especially during high water events.
This pattern is great for indicator rigs, bottom bouncing rigs, and even swung. Usually we find fish chase this and attack it near the end of your drift once it comes under tension to make sure you extend your drift before recasting!
