In this video, Marco ties a simple Great Lakes Marabou Tube Fly inspired by the classic Hoh Bo Spey. This is a pattern our guides rely on swinging for steelhead. Follow along this tutorial as Marco walks viewers through tying on tubes and why they are so effective.

Be sure to mix up your colors so you can match different light and water conditions. The classic black & blue is fantastic for the colder winter months. Other favorites include chartreuse & black, copper & black, and purple & black.

NOTES:

Tubes are really wonderful at solving some very specific issues such as managing hook location in slow water. Another huge benefit is being able to carry piles of flies and rigging your hooks on the water. You can carry one box of flies, one pack of hooks and a spool of tippet and have everything you need for a day.

Please reach out if you have questions about tying on tubes! Although it may appear confusing at first, once you're have the right tubes and a way to hold them in your vise, it's extremely easy.
