Fishing Report 10/12/18

COOLER WEATHER IS HERE AND SO ARE THE FISH!

If you're prepared to deal with some wet, windy, and chilly weather, you're going to have some fun out on our Northern Michigan rivers this week.

STEELHEAD

Although there are definitely still Salmon lingering in every river, most anglers have shifted their focus over to chrome fish that have found their way upstream. Guides are reporting the egg bite is in full swing and both yarn and bead presentations have been successful. Stick with shades of orange but keep some clown and other bright colors on hand for when the rains come and the rivers come up. If you'd like to learn more about fishing beads, check out this article. For a reference on how to rig up for chuck & duck or indicator fishing check out this article

Some anglers have found fish willing to chase a swung fly as well. If you want to try something different, we've got everything you need to get started chasing the tug.

TROUT

It's streamer season on trout water that remains open. Please, make sure the river and section of water you're fishing is open. Sink tips are the thing to get your flies down, stop in the shop so we can get you rigged up. If you're new to the game, a versileader is a great way to experiment before committing to a new line. Swim-style flies would be my first go-to as water temps are prime for trout to chase. Of course, don't forget about the classics like woolly buggers.

GET OUT THERE!
